KOURNIKOVA GALLERY was founded in 1995. The main field of the gallery is the art of émigré masters working in Europe in the early and mid twentieth century André Lanskoy, Serge Poliakoff, Léopold Survage, Nicolas Tarkhoff, Marevna (Maria Vorobieff-Stebelska), Marie Vassilieff, Pavel Tchelitchew and others. The gallery also deals with works by figurative avant-garde artists of the first half of the twentieth century such as Robert Falk, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Aristarkh Lentulov and the nonconformists of the 1960s (Oleg Tselkov, Vladimir Yakovlev, Anatoly Zverev and others).

Kournikova Gallery collaborates with museums, contributing it's works to museum exhibitions and borrowing museum items for exhibitions at the gallery.

In its new premises the gallery held a few exhibitions which proved to be very interesting for public and art specialists: In memory of Solomon Shuster, the famous post-war collector and owner of a legendary collection of Russian figurative avant-garde art (September October 2005), Russian Abstraction in France in the Mid-Twentieth Century, devoted to Charchoune, Lanskoy, Poliakoff, De Stael (April 2006 June 2006), Pavel Tchelitchew his first one-man show in Russia (November 2006 – January 2007). The last two shows included masterpieces lended by the Tretiakov Gallery. The exhibition "New objectivity" of Nicolaus Zagrekow and Russian Painters(April-June 2007) included 16 works from the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. The show devoted to Mstislav Dobuzhinsky (Mstislav Dobuzhinsky: from Lithuania to America, October2007 - January 2008) was made together with Theater, Music and Cinema Museum, Vilnius and Mikajus Ciurlionis National Art Museum, Kaunas.

About the building

In December 2004 Kournikova gallery has opened new exhibition space on Rublevo-Uspensky highway in the three-storedbuilding designed by well-known architect Evgeni Asse. The total area of the building is about 600 sq.m. The building is equipped by the newest museum equipment: system of humidity and temperatures maintenance, professional lightning.
